Granite countertops are fan faves for a reason

Granite countertops are fan faves for a reason. If you’re not aware of what’s so great about granite, you’re reading the right content. Today we’re going to provide a few FAQs regarding granite countertops. If you’re looking for a relatively affordable, highly functional, and visually-appealing countertop material, granite is one of your best bets!

Is Granite or Marble a Better Material for the Kitchen?

If you have a busy kitchen, granite is the better option. By “busy,” we mean a few things. We mean that if you love to cook, have a large family (especially with small children), or you have gatherings of any sort at your home. Marble is better for a bathroom than a kitchen because it’s not as scratch-resistant as granite is. Plus, highly-acidic substances can cause marble countertops to degrade.

Is it Hard to Damage Granite Countertops?

Yes, it is. But remember that no material is indestructible. We suggest using a cutting board to chop off food instead of directly cutting on the surface. We also recommend that you never place hot pots directly on any countertop surface. In particular, with granite, if you choose a lighter color scheme, you’ll want to seal your countertop annually. For darker granite, typically, you’ll only have to seal it every three years.

What is the Most Effective Way to Clean My Granite Countertop?

We seal granite countertops before installing them to ensure that your countertop will look brand new for a long time. However, it would serve you best if you never neglected to clean even low-maintenance countertops. Whatever you use to clean, make sure that it’s purposely made for granite or natural stone. Harsh and abrasive cleaners can cause damage.

Will Using Granite in My Home Increase Its Value?

Absolutely! Because this is such a durable and long-lasting material, it makes any home more valuable. Home upgrades, in general, are an excellent selling point if your goal is to sell your home. However, home upgrades that last as long as granite takes your home’s marketability up a notch.

Granite Countertops in a Nutshell

In a nutshell, granite countertops are:

  • Easy to Clean
  • Durable (as long as you seal it!)
  • Stylish
